Shadow Dancer Nova Brown Striped 1095 Carbon Steel Katana

It is heat treated, oil quenched, and mirror polished . A single bohi (fuller) on the blade helps to decrease the sword’s overall weight and improve its point of balance. 

The premium brass fittings on this katana include a mokko gata (lobed shape) tsuba, fuchi, kashira, and menuki with kiku (chrysanthemum) motifs that carry a deep cultural meaning. Brought to Japan during the Nara period (710 - 794 CE), the chrysanthemum was used in traditional medicine, making it a symbol of health and rejuvenation. Its radiating petals are likened to the sun, aligning it with Japan’s national identity, and making it the official emblem of the Emperor and the Imperial family. 

True to traditional design, one mekugi secures the blade to the wooden hilt covered with white genuine ray skin and wrapped tightly with brown synthetic silk tsuka ito. This katana comes sheathed in a striped oil lacquered brown scabbard fitted with alloy shitodome and a matching thickened sageo.
