Shadow Dancer Tyrannosaurus 5160 Steel Katana

Striking and formidable even from afar, this Shadow Dancer katana has a mirror polished shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade forged from 5160 steel, a material prized by many swordsmiths for its performance. Chromium, silicon, and manganese in the steel give the resulting heat treated and oil quenched blade superior shock absorption, resilience, and flexibility.

Premium quality blackened fittings for this katana include an iron maru gata (round) sukashi (openwork) tsuba as well as brass fuchi and kashira with a stone-wall pattern. Other koshirae are blackened brass menuki as well as gold-toned seppa and habaki.

True to tradition, one mekugi secures the full tang blade between the two halves of the wooden Haichi-style tsuka, first covered with white genuine samegawa, then wrapped tightly using synthetic silk ito. 

This beautiful piece comes sheathed in a matte black oil lacquered saya fitted with brass shitodome and a thickened sageo.
