PRODUCT DETAILS

Aiguchi, or Aikuchi, Japanese swords refer to them having a very little tsuba (guard) or no guard at all. This is a functional and high-quality replica of a samurai wakizashi aiguchi sword. These fittings were appropriate for samurai who wanted to stealthily carry a blade on their waist or perhaps inside their kimono, allowing for very fast and smooth unsheathing. Some models are simply made like this to better showcase the details on the blade or handle.

The blade of this wakizashi is made out of tamahagane steel, the real material that was and still is used in Japan, making it authentic. It has been traditionally folded multiple times and carefully clay-tempered to produce a real hamon and a naturally harder and tougher edge with a more flexible spine. The blade is a shobu-zukuri profile, a design favored by the Samurai when using a sword for wide sweeping cuts, especially due to the thinness of the blade's tip.

The handle is wooden and tightly wrapped with real samegawa rayskin. Each node can be carefully observed from up-close with a larger one near the pommel, indicating its high quality.

This wakizashi comes with its very own scabbard made as a custom fit to allow for a very tight fit. It has been lacquered with Japanese methods and designs and a lacquer for a shiny effect.
