Dragon King Autumn Leaf Katana Ancient Tree

Subtle and sleek, Dragon King’s Autumn Leaf Katana is a masterpiece with a shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade forged from 5160 high carbon spring steel. The addition of chromium, silicon, and manganese in the steel results in a blade that is highly resilient with superior edge retention, great for collectors and practitioners looking for a performance-oriented sword. 

This katana comes equipped with stainless steel fittings—including a maru gata (round) tsuba featuring leaves from the ginkgo tree, symbolizing resilience, longevity, and hope due to the tree’s ability to survive for many years. The menuki featuring a cricket and grasshopper carries the meaning of good luck, prosperity, and the beauty of nature. 

The wooden handle of the katana is covered in white samegawa and wrapped tightly with tan tsuka ito for a secure and durable grip. Hishigami (folded paper wedges) are included in the handle to decrease the ito from shifting and fraying, offering more comfort and further enhancing the grip. 

Completing the piece is a brown lacquered scabbard with black sageo.
