PRODUCT DETAILS

In Japan, the arrival of spring brings the cherry blossoms that symbolize life and death, beauty and violence. Therefore, Japan's national flower that is also a cultural icon is often a central motif in the worship of nature among the Japanese. In feudal Japan, there is no greater death than a samurai who falls during battle.

Inspired by these sentiments, the Spring Sakura Katana by Dragon King represents the transience of life. Forged from 5160 high carbon steel and quenched to an edge with a hardness of 57HRc, the geometrical blade is designed for rigorous cutting on soft and semi hard targets without sustaining any damage.

Equipped with blackened koshirae (fittings), the fuchi (hilt collar) and kashira (pommel cap) along with the ornate stainless steel tsuba (guard) accentuates the appearance of the katana. Against the white same (rayskin) covering the wooden tsuka (handle), the crimson tsuka ito (handle wrap) is further highlighted by the notched seppa (spacers), silver habaki (blade collar), and cherry blossom menuki (handle ornaments). This beautiful katana is then sheathed in a black lacquered saya (scabbard) that is fitted with buffalo horn koiguchi (mouth of the scabbard), wooden kurigata (knob for carrying cord), and a black sageo (carrying cord).

Traditionally constructed, this sakura katana is an exceptional piece that can be added to any collection.
