Hanwei Bushido Katana – Samurai Battle Motif

This Bushido Katana by Hanwei is a magnificent piece inspired by the Way of the Warrior. This code of conduct was formalized in the Edo period and followed by all honorable samurai. The full tang blade of this katana is forged from K120C powder steel, a material that is highly homogenous with an even distribution of carbon content. After differential treatment and clay tempering, it results in a durable blade that holds its edge extremely well. An added advantage is the beautiful hamon that adds to the aesthetics of the katana. This blade has a medium length (chu) kissaki.

This sword is equipped with a blackened and bronzed iron kaku maru gata (square with rounded corners) tsuba depicting a battle scene detailed in gold and silver. As expected of a masterpiece, the other fittings are also made of high quality materials; the fuchi and kashira made from blackened bronze with brass detailing, one piece brass construction for the habaki, along with gold colored seppa and menuki.

The tsuka is then covered with high quality white same, which is held in place with premium woven Japanese cotton. The blade comes sheathed in a lacquered saya with brass colored cherry blossom flowers. The fittings on the saya such as the kojiri, koiguchi, and kurigata are made of polished buffalo horn. Like the tsuka ito, the sageo is also woven Japanese cotton.
