PRODUCT DETAILS

This Classic Tiger Katana by Hanwei is a nostalgic reissue of the original folded steel katana (SH1204) made in the early 2000s. For accuracy reasons, the specifications for this katana follows the original meticulously.

Featuring a blade forged from K120C powder steel, this highly homogenous material with even carbon distribution ensures durability and edge retention after differential heat treatment. The tempering process results in a beautiful jihada that highlights the grain pattern and hamon. The blade has bohi on both sides to reduce the overall weight of the sword, improve its point of balance, and amplifies the Tachi Kaze without compromising the strength and durability of the sword. This allows for quick and agile strikes.

As its name implies, the blackened iron maru gata (round) tsuba depicts a stalking tiger inlaid in brass. The tsuka is then covered with white same and tightly wrapped with black Japanese cotton tsuka ito. The katana comes sheathed in a deeply lacquered black saya inlaid with brass bamboo leaves.

For those interested in a complete Daisho set, this Classic Tiger design is also available as a wakizashi (SH12050) or tanto (SH12060).
