PRODUCT DETAILS

This katana by Paul Chen / Hanwei is inspired by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a peasant who became chief minister of the emperor in 1585 in feudal Japan. Fighting in many important battles along with his intelligence, judicious behavior, and positive countenance, he rose through the ranks. With his capabilities, he fortified the country and unified Japan. Promoting economic growth, he encouraged trade, travel, and the formation of coinage.

Featuring a 27" forged steel blade forged from T10 steel that has been clay tempered, the hardness level of the edge is around 60 HRC while the back measures around 40 HRC. The full tang blade also features a bohi on both sides to reduce the overall weight of the sword while improving its point of balance, making it a light and agile katana.

Suitable as a decoration piece or for cutting practice, the katana is equipped with a maru gata (round) tsuba that depicts the image of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the Osaka castle with gold details. Meanwhile, the fuchi has a tea ceremony design with gold details and the kashira also depicts Osaka castle. The tsuka is covered with white samegawa and the tsukamaki uses black cotton ito. Finally, this sword is completed with a deep black lacquered wooden saya with an overall design that represents the best Hanwei craftsmanship.
