Japanese Saber 1095 Carbon Steel Sword Full Rayskin Saya Clay Tempered

The Japanese Gunto saber was introduced in 1868 during the Meiji era for military use, following the end of the samurai era and marking Western culture's influence in Japan.

This exquisite Nine Lions Japanese Saber by Hanbon Forge blends luxury and elegance. Crafted from 1095 folded high carbon steel and differentially hardened, the blade maintains a keen, sharp edge well, even with regular use, making it suitable for experienced practitioners. The tempering process creates a striking midareba (irregular) hamon and hada (grain), further highlighted by hazya polishing to enhance the sword's aesthetics.

The full tang blade is secured by two bamboo pegs to an elaborate hilt with high-quality brass lion fittings, habaki, and seppa. The scabbard, fully wrapped in black ray skin, features nine brass lions, reflecting the saber's name.
