PRODUCT DETAILS

Dragon King's Kohaku Katana has a simple yet elegant design, backed by a significant icon - the Kohaku Koi. Besides being a symbol of good fortune, luck, and prosperity, the carp is very symbolic for samurai as it is revered for its perseverance in the face of adversity. Battling river currents and climbing up waterfalls to reach its destination, the koi represents the journey in overcoming life's challenges to achieve one's goals.

This beautiful piece has a battle ready blade forged from T10 alloy and differentially hardened to ensure its strength and impressive edge retention. The tempering process also results in a midareba (irregular) hamon that is especially vibrant due to the type of steel used, enhancing the allure of the sword.

As denoted by its name, this katana is equipped with a black maru gata (road or circular) tsuba with the silhouette of two kois cut out. The carp is also embossed on the fuchi and kashira. Other high quality fittings include a habaki, seppa, and silver colored menuki featuring waves.

The wooden core tsuka for this piece is first covered with white samegawa and tightly wrapped using black tsuka ito for contrast. The Kohaku Katana is lastly completed by a black lacquered saya fitted with buffalo horn kurigata and a sageo.
