    The fuchi and fuchi-kashira feature embossed koi kohaku motifs, as does the black, round, pierced tsuba. Silver wave-shaped menuki adorn the black tsuka-ito, contrasting the white same. The wavy hamon of the 27 1/2" forged steel blade, flowing from kissaki to habaki, mirrors the theme of struggle and perseverance. The sword is sheathed in a black lacquered saya with a buffalo horn kurikata, enhanced by a coral and white sageo.
