Dragon King Summer Lotus Katana Peaceful

Dragon King’s Summer Lotus Katana is a refined and graceful piece that is a worthy addition to any collection. 

Its shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade is forged from 5160 high carbon spring steel, producing a blade that is known for its resilience, flexibility, shock absorption, and superior edge retention. Its versatile design makes it excellent for both cutting and thrusting, great for any practitioner. 

High quality fittings include a blackened kaku maru gata (square with rounded corners) tsuba featuring a serene water garden with a lotus flower—symbolizing enlightenment, rebirth, and rising above adversity. This theme is mirrored by the snail seen on the silver-toned menuki, again, symbolizing rebirth and perseverance along with wishes of fertility and prosperity. 

The full tang blade is secured to the wooden core tsuka covered in white samegawa and wrapped tightly with black tsuka ito. The addition of hishigami (folded paper wedges) not only enhances the grip, but also adds to its durability and comfort. 

Completing the sword is a textured lacquered scabbard with matching sageo.
