Hanwei Tanto Practical Plus Dogwood Motif

This Practical Plus Tanto is from Hanwei's Practical Plus series, matching the Practical Plus Katana (SH2073) and Wakizashi (SH2118). Formidable in appearance, the blade is forged from 1566 high carbon steel, a material that contains substantial manganese to produce a sword that is tough and has excellent edge retention despite extended use. The hardness of the edge is estimated to be around 60HRC while the spine is approximately 40HRC. The differential heat treatment and clay tempering process also results in a prominent midareba hamon that accentuates the appearance of the tanto.

Like its peers, this tanto is equipped with high quality koshirae such as its beautiful antiqued black sunburst tsuba along with Japanese dogwood motif fuchi and kashira. The tsuka is covered in genuine white same and tightly wrapped with black synthetic leather tsuka ito to give it a sturdy and comfortable grip. The tanto comes sheathed in a flat black lacquered saya with black cotton sageo.
