Hanwei Antiqued Solingen Main Gauche – Germany Style Parrying Dagger

The Main Gauche was a secondary dagger in 17th century Europe, very frequent and popular in duels. Used alongside a longer rapier, it served as a blade catcher and a decisive off-hand weapon. This Main Gauche is based on a Solingen German design.

It is crafted from 1566 high carbon steel and is very practical for actual cutting practice. The blade is double-edged, sharply pointed with a reinforced mid-rib, and an unsharpened ricasso that provides power and rigidity for deflecting blades and executing deep cuts.

The handle is made of stainless steel, which requires little to no maintenance. It features an antique museum-quality patina finish that enhances its authenticity. The crossguard narrows towards the blade, the handle is cord-wrapped, and the pommel is large to balance the blade and add weight.

It comes with its own leather scabbard for easy carrying and can be paired with a larger rapier for a proper post-Renaissance look.
