PRODUCT DETAILS

This is a Katana that has a similar hilt to a massive two-handed Nagamaki, a weapon specialized for dealing with heavy armor, mounted opponents, or multiple enemies at once. It has a unokubi-zukuri blade profile sometimes called a Naginata blade. This style originated during the peaceful Edo Period when Naginata polearms were smelted into shorter Katana blades.

It features a historically accurate long handle and blade made from the renowned T10 high carbon steel in maru (single steel) style. It has been properly heat-treated and quenched to achieve ideal hardness.

The sword is double-pegged for increased stability, and its blade has been traditionally polished with a hazuya stone for a mirror-shine effect. The handle has rayskin underneath a combat hineri-maki wrap and a Musashi-style handguard for training. This Katana/Nagamaki has a bohi (groove) that emits a sound feedback when slashing and is ideal for cutting practice or training.

Due to its unorthodox blade dimensions, in rare cases, the crafting of the saya (scabbard) might take a couple of days extra.
