Shadow Dancer's Tyrannosaurus Katana Model #2 is a mass produced sword that is of superior quality and affordability, surpassing similar products on the market that are 10 times their price.
Featuring a shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to the spine) blade forged from 9260 high carbon steel and 51CrV4 spring steel, the vacuum heat treated blade is very durable, resilient, and retains its 57HRC edge remarkably well. There is also the option of adding a bohi to the machine polished blade to help decrease the overall weight of the sword while improving its point of balance.
Model #2's premium koshirae includes antique finished brass tsuba engraved with plants and flowers, fuchi, kashira, and menuki. One mekugi secures the blade to the wooden Haichi style tsuka covered in white genuine samegawa and wrapped with artificial silk tsuka ito. For the handle, available options include the addition of hishigami or hishigami pro to ensure a tighter and more consistent tsukamaki while also preventing the handle wrap from fraying against the rougher texture of the underlying samegawa.
This beautiful katana is then completed by a black oil lacquered saya fitted with alloy shitodome and sageo.
Shadow Dancer's confidence in this sword stems from their use of a rare technique to align the spines of the blade and habaki for a more compact installation. They also use epoxy resin to secure the tsuka and fittings to ensure the sword's durability.
Note that the use of epoxy resin in these swords are by default. Those who want the sword without epoxy resin can specify their preferences in their order notes.
