PRODUCT DETAILS

Shadow Dancer's Tyrannosaurus Wakizashi Model #1 is a mass produced high quality yet affordable piece, great for beginner collectors or practitioners. Its shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to the mune) blade is forged from 9260 high carbon steel and 51CrV4 spring steel and vacuum heat treated to produce a resilient and durable blade with a hardness around 57 HRC. Holding its edge remarkably well, this blade comes with the option of a bohi to help decrease its overall weight and improve its point of balance.

Model #1's high quality brass fittings with an antique finish include a tsuba with a mitsudomoe (3 tomoe) symbol often associated with Shinto shrines, the god of war and archery, Japanese family crests, Buddhist temples, and more; fuchi, kashira, and menuki.

One mekugi secures the blade to the wooden Haichi style tsuka covered in white genuine samegawa held in place with artificial silk tsuka ito. For the handle, options include the addition of hishigami or hishigami pro that ensures tighter and more consistent handle wrapping while preventing the tsuka ito from fraying against the rougher texture of the underlying ray skin.

This wakizashi also comes with an oil lacquered saya fitted with alloy shitodome and sageo.

Despite being a mass produced item, Shadow Dancer is highly confident of this wakizashi's superior quality compared to other similar products on the market. This is attributed to the use of a rare technique to align the spines of the blade and habaki to produce a more compact installation. Additionally, epoxy resin is also used to further secure the tsuka and fittings to ensure the sword's durability.

However, those who prefer the sword without epoxy resin can make a request in the order notes.
