Modern Wakizashi

As its name indicates, this sword is Dragon King's take on a modern wakizashi. Touted to use the best technology, this wakizashi has a shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to the mune) blade forged from 1566 high carbon steel and differentially heat treated. This produces a blade with a uniformed hardened microstructure, making it tough, hard, and retains its edge (60 HRC) well even with extended use. The heat treatment process also produces a beautiful suguha (relatively straight) hamon.

This wakizashi's sleek and smooth design is naturally accompanied by an unadorned black maru gata (round or circular) tsuba; copper habaki and seppa; along with silver colored menuki featuring a shishi. Also known as komainu, the shishi in Japanese culture represents protection, prosperity, success, strength, and resilience.

Unlike traditional wakizashi, the textured tsuka for this sword that encapsulates the tang is made of G10, a high pressure fiberglass laminate known for being lightweight, strong, and durable. Two unremovable pins further secure the blade to the tsuka.

Completing this wakizashi is a textured black saya fitted with polymer kurigata and kojiri, along with an olive paradors sageo. This design is also available as a tanto.
