PRODUCT DETAILS

Shadow Dancer's Tyrannosaurus Wakizashi Model #2 has a shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to the mune) blade forged from a combination of 9260 high carbon steel and 51CrV4 spring steel. After vacuum heat treatment, the durable and resilient blade with a hardness of 58HRC holds its edge very well.

Options for the blade include the addition of a bohi that can help decrease the sword's overall weight and improve its point of balance.

Like the other models, Model #2 features high quality brass fittings with an antique finish. This includes the tsuba featuring leaves and flowers, fuchi, kashira, and menuki.

Despite being a mass produced sword, it has a clean and tidy Nakago (tang), munemachi (ridge notch), and hamachi (blade notch). One mekugi secures the blade to the wooden Haichi style tsuka first covered with white genuine samegawa with the tight tsukamaki using artificial silk tsuka ito. Options for the handle include the addition of hishigami or hishigami pro which offers the added benefits of a more consistent and tighter handle wrapping while preventing the handle wrap from fraying against the rougher ray skin.

This wakizashi is then complemented with a black oil lacquered saya fitted with alloy shitodome and black sageo.

Compared to other mass-produced swords, Shadow Dancer is highly confident that this wakizashi is superior compared to other similar products on the market, surpassing even those that cost 10 times as much.

What sets this wakizashi apart from its other mass produced peers is the use of a rare technique by Shadow Dancer to align the spines of the blade and habaki for a more compact fit. Combined with the use of epoxy resin to secure the handle and fittings, this is a very sturdy sword, fit for any collector or practitioner.

Note that the use of epoxy resin is by default. Those who prefer it without can specify in the order notes.
