Wakizashi Series 1

Thaitsuki's Kanshiki Wakizashi is a simple but elegant piece that focuses on quality and function. It has a full tang unokubi zukuri (cormorant's neck) single steel blade hand forged from 1095 high carbon steel, recommended for experienced cutting practitioners who desire a sharp and hard edge that holds up to sustained use.

The clay tempering and water quenching process gives the edge a hardness of 55HRC and the body at 40 HRC. This differential hardening process also gives the blade a beautiful notare hamon while the bohi helps to decrease the sword's overall weight while improving its point of balance.

This wakizashi is equipped with simple high quality fittings including a tsuba, silver seppa, menuki, hana habaki, along with brass fuchi and kashira. The blade's tang is secured to the wooden rikko tsuka with two mekugi. This handle is then covered with black samegawa held together with tight hinerimaki using silk Tsuka Ito that is goldish brown in color.

The blade comes sheathed in a glossy dark brown lacquered saya fitted with buffalo horn kojiri and koiguchi, wooden kurigata, and silver shitodome. Complementing the tsuka Ito is the polyester sageo in a similar color.
