    This is a Wooden Roman Gladius Sword, a type of training weapon used by Roman soldiers and gladiators for practice. Besides its use in training, it also served as a symbolic piece for gladiators. If they survived long enough and were discharged as free people rather than remaining slaves, they would be given wooden Gladius swords as tokens of freedom.

    This practice sword is crafted from solid steamed beechwood with a darker contrasting stain on the pommel and guard. It is fully seasoned, meaning it can withstand abusive sparring, even when facing another wooden edged sword.
