Windlass Deschaux Rapier

This is the Deschaux Rapier, an elegant sword that was the norm in Europe during the late 16th and 17th centuries. It is designed after a model that served both as a romantic symbol of the Renaissance and as a very deadly and fearsome dueling tool, capable of penetrating deep inside its target.

The blade of this rapier is forged from 1065 high carbon steel, featuring the right level of toughness and balance needed for a thin blade size of 37 inches. The blade has a long unsharpened ricasso underneath the guard, allowing for more maneuverable grips that then turn into a blade with a reinforced mid-rib, giving it rigidity for thrusts.

The handle carries the iconic three-ringed swept hilt, which was one of the many hilt forms of its day. The one-handed grip is made out of bone with wire wrapping, allowing for a very secure grip.

This rapier comes with its own scabbard made out of leather and is suitable as a decorative piece or perhaps a training tool to experience the moves this elegant blade allows for.

Please note that the bone used is real and, being a natural material, means that the color may vary from off-white to tan.
