Dragon King Modern Katana – Bohi

This Modern Katana from Dragon King uses the best of modern materials while retaining the best of traditional craftsmanship, offering practitioners a more lightweight and agile version of the iconic sword. 

Its shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade is forged from 1566 high carbon steel, a material that contains the addition of manganese to produce a blade that is sharp and durable with superior edge retention. The differential heat treatment process it undergoes yields a stunning gunome (wave-like) hamon that accentuates the sword’s overall appearance. Additionally, the single bohi on the blade helps to decrease the katana’s overall weight, improve its point of balance, and enhances the clarity of its tachikaze. 

Built to focus on performance, this katana is equipped with simple but premium sword fittings—inlcuding a maru gata (round) tsuba.

For added stability, two mekugi secure the full tang blade to the handle crafted from G10 (garolite), a high pressure fiberglass laminate known for being lightweight, durability, and strength. It is also resistant to moisture, making it perfect for the modern warrior. Completing the piece is a black lacquered scabbard with matching sageo.
