Shadow Dancer Blue Samegawa 1095 Carbon Steel Bohi Katana

Calm and commanding, this captivating katana reflects the vision of  Shadow Dancer’s Nova series, uniting fantasy-inspired designs with impeccable traditional craftsmanship. 

Its shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length) blade forged from 1095 carbon steel, producing a durable and versatile blade that is optimized for both cutting and slicing. The differential heat treatment it undergoes reveals an elegant midare (irregular) hamon accentuated through polishing. The blade also has a bohi (fuller) that helps to decrease the sword’s overall weight while improving its point of balance and enhancing the clarity of tachikaze. 

Equipped are beautiful black mountings with gold highlights and elaborate details. A koi fish is seen on the tsuba—symbolizing perseverance, strength, and resilience. Meanwhile, flame motifs on the fuchi reflect both the destructive and purifying aspects of fire.

The blade is secured with one mekugi to the wooden core tsuka covered in blue samegawa wrapped tightly in place using deep blue artificial silk tsuka ito. Completing the sword is a stunning deep blue katana with white flecks—resembling a blizzard in the night—and a matching sageo.
