Shadow Dancer Red Fantasy Katana 1095 Clay Tempered with Gunome Hamon

Luxurious with a whimsical flair, this katana from Shadow Dancer’s Nova Series blends fantasy inspired designs with craftsmanship of the highest standard. 

Forged from 1095 carbon steel, the hira zukuri (flat and ridgeless) blade has a sleek cutting profile prized for delivering precise, fluid strikes, and a smooth draw. The differential heat treatment the blade undergoes not only produces a hard and sharp edge, but also yields a stunning gunome (wave-like) hamon that accentuates the katana’s overall appearance. 

Unique, colorful, and modern-looking fittings with snowflake motifs, starburst shapes, and various abstract geometry brings a playful and lighthearted touch that sharply contrasts with the usual staunch and forbidding traditional sword fittings. Other complementary fittings include gold-toned seppa and habaki. 

A single mekugi secures the blade’s full tang to the wooden core tsuka covered in black samegawa with tightly wrapped tsukamaki using red artificial silk tsuka ito. 

Completing this beautiful masterpiece is a glossy lacquered red scabbard with delicate gold filigree that adds to the opulent appearance of the katana. Included is a matching red artificial silk sageo.
