Dragon King Sea Wave Katana Powerful Nature

Dragon King's Sea Wave Katana is an alluring piece with a deep blue color that is reminiscent of the depths of the ocean. Forged from folded T10 alloy and 9260 high carbon steel, the resultant blade has impressive flexibility and impact resistance. The differential hardening process results in excellent edge retention with a hardness of 60 HRC while the mune remains more flexible at 40 HRC. This tempering process also brings about a beautiful notare (wave) hamon that accentuates the overall appearance of the sword. Additionally, the blade also features a bohi that helps to lighten the overall sword and improves its point of balance.

The duality of the nature of sea waves highlights the nature of samurai, serene and calm in times of peace, yet turbulent and ferocious in war. This theme is evident on the silver colored mokko gata (lobed shape) tsuba, fuchi, and kashira. Other high quality fittings include the silver habaki, notched seppa, and gold menuki.

For the traditionally constructed wooden core tsuka, it is first covered with white samegawa, then tightly wrapped with dark blue tsuka ito which contrasts beautifully against the ray skin. This masterpiece is then completed by a placid blue saya fitted with buffalo horn kurigata and koiguchi, along with a blue sageo that ties in the overall design.
