Shadow Dancer Brown Clay Tempered Katana with Snake Fittings

This distinguished and stately looking katana is Shadow Dancer’s Snake katana from their Nova Series, blending contemporary modern designs with traditional precision, making it a valuable addition for any enthusiast. 

The meticulously crafted shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length) blade is forged from 1095 carbon steel, differentially heat treated to produce an exceptionally keen and sharp edge that holds up remarkably well, especially for experienced cutting practitioners. The beauty of the blade is further accentuated by a stunning midare (irregular) hamon made even more visible through careful polishing. 

As its name implies, this katana is equipped with fittings featuring snakes—often seen as messengers of deities and water guardians. Symbolizing wisdom, transformation, and good fortune, snakes are also considered protectors that can ward off evil and bring good fortune. Gold-toned habaki and seppa complement the overall cohesive design of the sword. 

A single mekugi secures the blade’s tang to the wooden core tsuka covered in black samegawa and tightly wrapped using brown leather tsuka ito for a comfortable and secure grip. This majestic piece comes sheathed in a glossy lacquered katana with patterns that resemble a snake’s body and a black artificial silk sageo.
