PRODUCT DETAILS

The Gladius came in different shapes and sizes to accommodate various battlefields and enemies. This is an accurate replica of a Pompeii Gladius, one of the shortest versions, which featured parallel cutting edges and a triangular tip. It served an army that required a direct approach to warfare and was usable for deep thrusting to powerful cutting, which contributed to the conquering of three continents.

This accurate replica is made from 1075 high carbon steel and comes sharpened and ready for battle. The blade has the true mid-rib which reinforces it for rigid cutting.

Its one-handed handle is made of maple and ash wood with a substantial pommel for balance, as well as a small handguard acting as a hand-stopper. The handle features the iconic Roman finger openings that allow for a very firm grip, especially useful when holding another object like a large shield in the other hand.

This Pompeii gladius comes with its own wooden and leather-covered scabbard that has a brass throat and tip, complete with belt loops that can be attached to the user carrying it.

The sword is made both for decoration as a reenactment piece and also to put the iconic legionary weapon to the test during cutting practice.
