Z-SEY High-Quality Stone Koshirae Katana

This elegant Z-Sey katana has a sleek and clean design, giving it a beautiful and minimalist appearance. 

Its shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade is forged from crucible steel, a material prized for its visual resemblance to tamahagane steel, in the kobuse (high carbon outer jacket with a softer, lower carbon inner core) style. Differentially heat treated and clay tempered, the resulting jihada and suguha (straight) hamon is accentuated through traditional sashikomi polishing. 

This katana’s tsuba is an iron maru gata (round) sukashi (openwork) tsuba keeps the sword lightweight and agile without sacrificing hand protection. The blackened brass fuchi and kashira have stone wall patterns with momiji, 紅葉 (Japanese Maple Leaf), representing elegance, transition, and impermanence. Other fittings include brass menuki, copper seppa, and copper Muji (plain) habaki. 

A mekugi secures the nakago within the handmade wooden Haichi style tsuka covered with white samegawa with large nodes. The tightly wrapped tsukamaki uses Japanese silk ito for a comfortable and durable grip. 

The saya coated with high hardness paint has horn fittings paired with brass shitodome and high quality Japanese sageo.
