Shadow Dancer Japanese Dragon Green Five Petal Cherry Blossom Katana

Forged from 1095 carbon steel, this shobu zukuri (resembling an iris leaf) blade is known for its enhanced piercing ability with superior cutting and slashing performance. The differential hardening process the blade undergoes results in a durable and sharp edge while its spine remains flexible for better shock absorption. It also reveals a beautiful gunome (wave-like) hamon that accentuates the katana’s aesthetics.

Matching the overall design are fittings that have cloud motifs—including a maru gata (round) tsuba, fuchi, and kashira. In Japanese culture, clouds are often viewed as an auspicious omen, bringing essential rain to ensure plentiful harvests while also serving as a bridge between the earthly and spiritual realms. The dragon on the handguard is not only considered a bringer of good fortune and wealth, it also symbolizes protection, wisdom, and strength.

True to tradition, one mekugi secures the blade’s tang to the wooden core tsuka covered in black samegawa and wrapped tightly using artificial silk tsuka ito for a secure and comfortable grip.

The blade is housed in a black glossy lacquered scabbard decorated with green cherry blossom emblems—again representing good fortune and new beginnings—along with a matching sageo.
