Dragon King Modern Katana – Bohi

This is the Modern Katana with Bohi, made for the 21st-century urban samurai warrior. While following the traditional, iconic samurai katana design, this sword incorporates the latest modern technological advancements in its blade, fittings, and handle. It is ideal for cutting practice on various targets and suitable for a modern approach to a samurai outfit.

The blade of this modern katana is forged from 1566 steel, a material known for its durability in cutting. It has been traditionally and genuinely hardened using clay, resulting in a real hamon and an edge with 60 HRC hardness backed by its 40 HRC spine, the perfect balance between flexibility and toughness. The blade features a bohi, a groove added to reduce its weight and produce a louder tachikaze (sound of slashing) to indicate when a perfect slash is executed.

It comes with a two-handed handle made out of G10 scales, a modern material with a non-slip surface and very durable against outside elements. It is decorated with a Japanese dragon menuki and double-pegged for increased security. Its fittings, such as the blade collar and spacer, are made of copper.

The katana comes with its very own wooden scabbard textured for a more modern appeal.

This Modern Katana with Bohi can be paired with the Modern Wakizashi (SD35476) and Modern Tanto (SD35491) to make a proper samurai daisho setup.
