Dragon King Modern Tanto – Bohi

This is a fully functional, battle-ready Modern Tanto with a Bohi, a groove that lowers the weight. Tantos were daggers and sidearms carried by samurai in everyday life for self-defense and to combat fully armored enemies, piercing them in their gaps during a grapple or close quarters melee.

This tanto is perfect for the modern urban samurai who practices tameshigiri (cutting). The blade is forged from 1566 high carbon steel and differentially hardened, resulting in a hardness level of 60 at the edge and 40 at the spine—measurements ideal for cutting. The sword features a real hamon dancing across the edge, and the profile is Kanmuriotoshi Zukuri, a design that reinforces the rigidity and toughness of the blade.

The one-handed handle is made of modern G10, which is very durable and resistant to the elements and offers an excellent non-slip grip. The fittings, such as the collar and spacers, are made of copper and feature a dragon decoration on the handle.

It comes with its very own wooden scabbard that has been textured for a modern appeal.

This Modern Tanto be combined with other modern Japanese swords, such as the Modern Katana (SD35471) and Modern Wakizashi (SD35476), to make a perfect modern Daisho.
