Shadow Dancer Reverse Edged Sakabato Katana

Popularized by Rurouni Kenshin, an anime and manga, many questioned the existence of Sakabato katana as "sakabato" meaning "reversed blade", refers to the inside of the blade being sharpened as opposed to on the outside in standard katanas until an Edo Period (1603 - 1868) version was discovered in Japan in 2013.

Applying the same concept, Shadow Dancer's Sakabato Katana is a unique piece with a shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to the mune) blade forged from 1095 high carbon steel and clay tempered to reveal a tough and sharp blade with exceptional edge retention. The differential heat treatment process also produces a beautiful notare (irregular and undulating) hamon on the blade that is three-color polished.

This katana is also equipped with an iron double ring tsuba, a design created by Musashi himself. Other koshirae include brass fuchi, kashira, menuki, seppa, and habaki.

A mekugi secures the blade to the wooden Haichi style tsuka covered in white genuine samegawa and tightly wrapped with artificial silk tsuka ito to provide a comfortable and secure grip. Completing this katana is an oil lacquered saya fitted with alloy shitodome and thickened sageo.
