Tonbo Sanmai Wakizashi Limited Edition

This graceful looking Tonbo Sanmai Wakizashi from Thaitsuki has a triple steel structure blade hand forged from folded 1060 high carbon steel (to 1024 layers) for the body of the blade and the harder 1095 high carbon steel for the edge.

Clay tempered and water quenched, this results in a hardness of 60 HRC for the edge and 35 HRC for the blade along with a distinctive notare hamon that adds to the overall aesthetics of the blade. This exquisite shinogi zukuri (with yokote and shinogi close to the mune) is then hand polished with excellent hada and hand sharpened as well. The blade also has a bohi that helps to decrease the wakizashi's weight and improve its point of balance.

This sword is equipped with high quality fittings with tondo (dragonfly) motif, as seen in the blackened copper maru gata (round) tsuba, copper fuchi and kashira, along with the silver menuki. The seppa and habaki are plain silver. Securing the blade's tang to the rikko (hourglass) tsuka is two mekugi for added stability.

The wooden handle is then covered with genuine black same and wrapped tightly with black silk tsuka Ito in the hinerimaki style. It comes with a dark purple saya with a matte finish fitted with silver kurigata, koiguchi, and kojiri, along with a silk sageo in brown and black. This wakizashi's design is also available as a katana, making it the perfect Daisho set for any sword enthusiast.
