Hanwei Musashi Wakizashi with Leather Tsuka-Ito

Miyamoto Musashi, Japan's legendary "Sword Saint," famed for both his profound philosophy on life and unmatched martial prowess—claiming victory in around 60 duels to the death—crafted sword fittings uniquely suited to his combat style. Notably, he introduced the lightweight, open-design Musashi tsuba (guard), enhancing visibility of opponents during battle.

This Musashi Wakizashi honors that tradition, featuring a high-carbon steel blade expertly balanced for cutting practice, traditionally clay-tempered to achieve a hardened cutting edge (60 HRC) and authentic hamon, while maintaining flexibility (40 HRC) in the spine. Its blade includes a bo-hi (groove), generating a distinctive, louder slashing sound during swings.

The handle (tsuka) is traditionally wrapped with leather tsuka-ito over genuine ray skin, offering a secure, comfortable grip. Accompanied by a matching wooden scabbard, this wakizashi provides both protective storage and convenient portability.
