Dragon King Spring Sakura Katana – Cherry Blossom

Its shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade is forged from 5160 spring steel—contains chromium, manganese, and silicon—a material prized by many swordsmiths for creating flexible and resilient blades with superior edge retention. 

The addition of a bohi improves the katana’s appearance by decreasing the sword’s overall weight, improving its point of balance, and enhancing the clarity of its tachikaze. The katana’s appearance is further accentuated by the presence of a midare (irregular) hamon.

Aligned with its name and theme, this katana comes equipped with a tsuba shaped like a cherry blossom, representing grace, honor, and the transience of life—a reminder for warriors to embrace a noble death if necessary. 

The wooden core handle is covered with white samegawa wrapped tightly with crimson tsuka ito which contrasts vibrantly against the black lacquered scabbard with matching black sageo.
