This shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length) blade forged from 1095 high carbon steel produces an exceptionally hard and sharp edge that cuts remarkably well. The differential heat treatment process it undergoes also yields a stunning gunome (wave-like) hamon that is accentuated through polishing. Enhancing its performance is a bohi (fuller) that improves balance, decreases weight, and heightens the clarity of tachikaze.

Beautiful and intricate sword fittings—including a mokko gata (lobed shape) tsuba, fuchi, kashira, and menuki—with elaborate nature motifs symbolize the fusion of martial strength with natural beauty and the transience of life. These motifs are featured on a background of the seigaiha (ocean waves) pattern, representing good fortune and peace. Gold-toned seppa and habaki add warmth and contrast to the sword’s design.
