Sokueto Hondashi Katana

An exquisite masterpiece, Thaitsuki's Sokueto Hondachi Maru Katana is visually striking with the classic black and ivory white colors. Featuring an unokubi zukuri (cormorant's neck) single steel blade forged from 1095 steel, the clay tempering and water quenching process results in a blade with good edge retention and elegant notare hamon. With a 55 HRC for the edge and 40 HRC for the body, the blade also features a bohi that decreases its overall weight while improving its point of balance.

Equipped with silver fittings such as the tsuba perfect for minimalists, it is complemented with a hana habaki, and menuki. The menuki along with the brass fuchi and kashira has shishi (lion) motifs, believed to be protective, strong, and courageous guardians who also symbolize prosperity and success.

On the rikko tsuka, there are two mekugi that secures the blade's tang. The wooden handle is then covered with black same with tight hinerimaki using Japanese silk tsuka ito in an opulent ivory color. Accentuating the overall design is the glossy black lacquered saya fitted with buffalo horn kurigata, koiguchi, sayajiri, along with a silk ivory sageo that matches the Tsuka Ito.
