The Japanese Wolf, or Okami, symbolizes strength, loyalty, and protection—qualities every samurai strove to embody. This is the Wolf Wakizashi, a handmade sword designed to reflect these ideals for its wielder. It is entirely handmade from scratch and limited to only 100 pieces, making each model uniquely special.
This battle-ready tameshigiri Wolf Wakizashi is crafted from DNH7, a carbon steel material renowned within the sword community for its cutting durability, even against heavy-duty targets. The blade features a bohi (groove) that enhances its appeal, reduces its overall weight, and produces a louder tachikaze (sound of slashing) to signal when a perfect swing is executed. It has undergone a traditional clay tempering process, resulting in a real hamon temper line that dances across the blade. This differential hardening creates an edge hardness of 60 HRC, while the spine is lower at 40 HRC, striking the perfect balance between toughness and flexibility for cutting practice.
The handle is traditionally crafted, with a marked tang by the smiths, topped with wood and real samegawa rayskin wrapped smoothly around it, then finished with a hatate-maki, a battle-style leather suede wrap that ensures a firm grip during cutting. The fittings on this sword each feature the wolf, with the menuki depicting a billowing cloud and a crescent moon, complementing the howl of the Japanese wolf.
The scabbard is made from real, authentic wood, custom-fit to the blade to ensure proper and smooth sheathing and unsheathing. It is lacquered for a shiny effect with a gray mist motif.
This Wolf Wakizashi is designed to perfectly complement the Wolf Katana (SC4048), creating a proper samurai daisho. Please note that since each part of the sword is handmade, dimensions may slightly vary from piece to piece.
