Some katanas are made to follow traditional paths—to recreate the blades once carried by the samurai with exacting detail. Others, like this CPM-3V High Performance Katana, are built to go beyond tradition. This is a katana designed not just to replicate the past, but to outperform it—crafted with modern materials that make it stronger, tougher, and ready for a real samurai battlefield, if such a thing existed today.

The blade is forged from CPM-3V steel, a powder metallurgy steel known for extreme toughness and edge retention—commonly used in high-end knives. Our smiths took on the challenge of adapting it to the long, curved form of a katana, and the result speaks for itself: incredible durability with serious cutting power. It’s fully sharpened and built without a bohi groove, which adds more mass and cutting impact—especially noticeable when slicing through tatami mats or bamboo.

The tsuka (handle) is constructed in the traditional way, with a single bamboo mekugi peg anchoring everything in place. It’s wrapped in real silk over genuine rayskin for a secure, classic grip. The fittings feature a clean silver finish and are decorated with the mitsudomoe motif—a symbol of harmony between heaven, earth, and humanity.

The scabbard is carved to fit this blade perfectly, allowing for smooth, fast draws and sheathing. A red sageo cord is tied at the kurikata, ready for proper wear or simple display.
