Shadow Dancer 9260 Steel Nodachi

The odachi, or nodachi, is an extra-long samurai sword originally used by foot soldiers against cavalry during the Nanbokucho Period. This 9260 Steel Nodachi from Shadow Dancer features a striking shinogi zukuri (flat ground) blade forged from 9260 steel, oil quenched, with a bohi (groove) to reduce weight and improve balance. The blade is secured to the handle with one mekugi (bamboo peg).

The nodachi is equipped with a brass tsuba (handguard), fuchi (collar), kashira (pommel), menuki (ornamental grips), and habaki (blade collar), along with copper seppa (spacers). The Haichi style tsuka (handle) is covered in white genuine samegawa (ray skin) and wrapped with artificial red silk ito (wrap). It is sheathed in an oil-lacquered saya (scabbard) with brass shitodome (end caps) to prevent the thick red sageo (cord) from fraying.
