PRODUCT DETAILS

Sengo Muramasa was a renowned Japanese swordsmith who forged some of the finest blades in Japan's history. Despite his swords being favored by the Tokugawa shogunate, his blades were thought to be"cursed" as wielders were befallen with unfortunate incidents. However, one must note that this is due to most of Tokugawa's samurai using his swords.

Shadow Dancer's Muramasa Replica has a shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to the mune) blade forged from crucible steel, ensuring its durability, strength, and excellent edge retention. The differentially heat treated blade reveals a stunning suguha (relatively straight) hamon that is made even more visible through traditional Sashikomi polish.

As expected of a Muramasa replica, the Nakago of the blade is shaped like the belly of a crucian carp. The Nakago (tang) of this blade even replicates Muramasa's yasurime (decorative file marks) to add to its authenticity.

This replica is fitted with a blackened iron maru gata (round or circular) tsuba. Other premium brass koshirae include a custom fuchi with Sanskrit inscriptions, kashira, Vajra menuki, seppa with hammered brass pattern, and 2.8 motohaba-fitted muji habaki.

A mekugi secures the blade to the wooden Rikko style tsuka wrapped tightly with Japanese imported cotton tsuka ito holding the white genuine samegawa and hishigami pro in place. This beautiful sword is completed by an oil lacquered saya with brass shitodome and thickened sageo.
