With a blade forged from 1095 high carbon steel, the shobu zukuri (resembling an iris leaf) blade has a keen and sharp edge that performs exceptionally well, even for experienced cutting practitioners. Equipped with intricate and elaborate fittings with motifs revolving around nature, the fuchi features vines—representing vitality and longevity— on a background of seigaiha (blue ocean waves) which are also seen on the kashira. Seigaiha is among one of the oldest Japanese patterns that represent peace, prosperity, and resilience. Also included are gold-toned seppa and habaki that accentuates the katana’s overall design. 

Following tradition, a single mekugi secures the full tang blade to the wooden core hilt covered in samegawa with tightly wrapped artificial silk tsuka ito for a secure and comfortable grip.
