Shadow Dancer Tuoyuan Katana MKIII(Final Version)

Incorporating years of continuous design and quality improvements, this sleek and elegant Zsey Tuoyuan MKIII katana is the final definitive version of its series.

Its shinogi zukuri (ridge line runs along the blade’s length on both sides) blade forged from crucible steel is differentially heat treated to ensure a hard edge and softer spine, resulting in an exceptionally sharp and resilient blade with a prominent suguha (straight) hamon made even more visible through sashikomi A polishing.

This katana is equipped with premium quality koshirae such as an iron maru gata (round) kikka sukashi (chrysanthemum openwork) tsuba.Historically symbolic of high status and longevity, this design is prized for its battlefield practicality, providing optimal balance and an enhanced “Hachiman” acoustic ring while seamlessly maintaining the handguard’s structural rigidity. 

White copper fuchi and kashira are adorned with an intricate traditional sayagata (紗綾形) pattern, again symbolizing longevity, prosperity, and good fortune. Other fittings include blackened brass menuki, silver-toned nickel-plated brass seppa, and a white copper habaki. 

A single mekugi secures the full tang blade with yasurime (file marks) between the two wooden halves of its Haichi style tsuka covered with normal emperor node white samegawa. The tight tsukamaki wrap uses Japanese-imported black silk ito for a luxurious and durable grip. Additions of hishigami (folded paper wedges) beneath the wrap further prevents the ito from shifting, improving the sword’s grip, edge alignment feedback, and ito durability.     

Completing the overall ensemble is a matte black oil-lacquered saya with horn fittings and golden-brown silk sageo from Japan.
