PRODUCT DETAILS

This is a Katana featuring an 18-inch long handle similar to a Nagamaki. The blade, made out of the sturdy 1095 high carbon steel in maru (single block) format, adopts a unokubi-zukuri (blade profile), a blade profile that was formed by smelting down and shortening large Naginata polearms, which is why they are sometimes referred to as Naginata blades.

The sword is full-tang, double-pegged for added stability, and highlights a bohi (groove) that reduces its weight and creates a tachikaze (sound feedback). The long wooden handle with a rayskin and tight fiber tsuka-maki wrap allows for a strong grip. Moreover, its scabbard is made of reliable hardwood, exhibiting a matte color effect.

The blade has been traditionally hazuya stone polished for a mirror reflection, and its fittings are made out of alloy, brass, and copper, featuring samurai warriors in battle. This sword is ideal for tameshigiri (cutting practice) when sharpened; it also serves as a perfect training tool when ordered unsharpened.
