PRODUCT DETAILS

The term "odachi" or "nodachi" refers to an oversized tachi. Its name which means "field sword" is representative of its blade length that is much longer than usual. Mostly used during the Nanbokucho period (1336 - 1392), these long swords carried across the back were usually used on the battlefield or served as offerings in temples and shrines.

JKOO's nodachi is forged from tamahagane steel and jizuya and hazuya polished using Narutaki and Uchigumori stones respectively. Its shirasaya design refers to its simple pattern where the sword has a minimalist and unadorned wooden design, making this piece stand out even more in its partisanship.

**JKoo Swords uses an imitation of Japanese Tamahagane steel, which is slightly different and much more affordable.
